Organization records, 1946-1980.

Correspondence, some minutes, issues of "JA Journal" (newsletter), and a scrapbook of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.) chapter of the Japanese American Citizens' League (JACL), a national organization formed to promote and protect the welfare and civil rights of persons of Japanese ancestry in the United States. Also includes correspondence and minutes (copies) of the board of management of the Japanese American Community Center located in Minneapolis. There are occasional photographs scattered throughout. The materials relate to social and civic activities of the local chapter (and local Junior JACL) as well as to the issues that occupied the league at all levels, such as equal opportunity in employment and immigration and naturalization legislation. These records were accumulated by S. Bill Doi, an active member of the league and member of the community center's board of management.
